Houston, Texas - Colombia opened their Copa America campaign with a 2-1 victory over Paraguay in Houston on Monday. Daniel Muñoz and Jefferson Lerma scored in the first half for Colombia, with James Rodríguez providing assists for both goals. Julio Enciso pulled one back for Paraguay in the second half, but Colombia held on to secure the win.
Colombia dominated the majority of the match, and they took the lead in the 12th minute when Muñoz headed home a cross from Rodríguez. Lerma doubled the advantage just six minutes later, finishing off another assist from Rodríguez. Paraguay improved in the second half, and Enciso gave them hope with a goal in the 67th minute, but Colombia held on to claim the three points.
