Passengers on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship Help Save the Day

In a dramatic turn of events, a passenger on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship fell overboard from the 10th deck of the liner. The woman, who was identified as a 42-year-old, was saved after a nearly hourlong rescue operation. The incident occurred on Sunday, and the woman's name has not been released.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the woman fell overboard around 7:30 p.m. The ship was about 20 miles off the coast of Cozumel, Mexico, at the time. The crew immediately launched a rescue boat, and the woman was located about 45 minutes later. She was taken back to the ship and treated for minor injuries.

The woman's rescue was a rare happy ending in a situation that often ends in tragedy. According to the Cruise Lines International Association, there were 26 overboard incidents in 2019, resulting in 14 deaths.

The Coast Guard is investigating the incident, and it is not yet known how the woman fell overboard.
